Pune: 130 kg Marijuana Worth Rs 25 Lakh Confiscated, 3 Persons Arrested By Crime Branch

Pune, September 19, 2020: Marijuana (ganja) worth Rs 24.54 lakh was confiscated by the Anti-Narcotics Cell (West region) of Pune City Police’s Crime Branch. Three people were arrested for the illegal possession of drugs which was found to be around 130 kilograms.

The accused were identified by the police as Prashant Haribhau Shinde (25) and Arun Baliram Jadhav (26) of Nigdi, and Shubham Sunil Mohite (19) of Khed.

Acting on a tip-off received by policeman Pradip Gade, a team led by Senior Police Inspector Rajendra Mohite laid a trap and seized the marijuana around 4 pm on Thursday near Don Bosco school in Yerwada.

The accused had come to the area in a four-wheeler and when the police tried to nab the accused they tried to escape. The police eventually caught them and said that they confiscated five bags of marijuana during the search.

The police also said that the accused drug peddlers had purchased the banned drugs from Andhra Pradesh and were planning to sell it in Nigdi area in Pimpri-Chinchwad. Dattaji Mohite, Police sub-inspector is investigating the case further.

The action was taken under the guidance of Additional CP (Crime) Ashok Morale, DCP (Crime) Bachchan Singh and ACP Shivaji Pawar. The team included PSI Nilesh Mahadik, Dattaji Mohite, and police personnel Ramesh Garud, Mangesh Pawar, Sunil Chikhle, Vijay Gurav, Mahesh Kadam, Sahil Shaikh, Manoj Shinde, Firoz Bagwan, Pramod Tilekar, Pradip Shitole, Pravin Padwal, Rupali Karnwar and Mohan Yelpalle.
