Pune: 157 Two-Wheeler Riders Driving Without Helmets Died In Accidents In the Last 10 Months In Pimpri-Chinchwad City
Pimpri, 3rd November 2022: In Pimpri-Chinchwad city, 157 people have died due to accidents while riding two-wheelers without helmets in the last 10 months. Traffic personnel and organizations frequently create awareness about helmet use.
By law, two-wheeler riders are required to wear helmets. In the last 10 months, 381 people riding two-wheelers without helmets have met with accidents, and 157 people have lost their lives while many people are seriously injured.
Satish Mane, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Transport Department, informed that the traffic police of Pimpri-Chinchwad imposed a fine of Rs 1.60 crores on 32,075 people who ride two-wheelers without helmets.
Many bike riders do not use helmets as they find helmets a burden. In Pimpri-Chinchwad city, 157 people have died due to accidents while riding two-wheelers without helmets in the last ten months. The serious matter is that in Pimpri-Chinchwad city, only five per cent of people use helmets, while the remaining 95 per cent of two-wheeler drivers do not use helmets, traffic police officials informed.

“We are cracking down on bike riders who are not using helmets while driving. Public awareness is also being done. In the last 10 months, as much as Rs 1.60 crores fine has been imposed on those riding two-wheelers without helmets. We will intensify the action,” informed Satish Mane.
