Pune: 16-Year-Old Girl Dies by Suicide in Charholi After Checking SSC Exam Results

Alandi, 15th May 2025: A 16-year-old girl from Charholi allegedly died by suicide at her residence on Tuesday, shortly after viewing her SSC (Class 10) exam results.
According to officials from Dighi police station (Pimpri Chinchwad police), the teenager had checked her board exam scores earlier that day and then went into her bedroom. When she did not emerge after a prolonged period, her mother went to check on her and found her hanging from the ceiling with a sari.
“She immediately called for help, and neighbours contacted the police,” said an investigating officer.
The girl was rushed to Yashwantrao Chavan Memorial Hospital in Pimpri, where doctors pronounced her dead on arrival.
“Her family later informed us that she had secured 39% in the SSC exam,” the officer added. “At this stage, we have registered a case of accidental death as part of the preliminary procedure.”
Police are continuing their inquiry and have urged students and parents to seek emotional support during exam result periods. Mental health professionals emphasize the importance of open communication and guidance for students facing academic pressure.
