Pune: 17-Year-Old College Student Dies After Falling from Fifth Floor in Dhankawadi; Police Probe Underway

Pune, 17th July 2026: A 17-year-old college student died after falling from the fifth floor of a residential building in Dhankawadi on Thursday morning. The incident occurred at Nirmal Park Society, prompting the Sahakarnagar Police to launch an investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the fall.

The deceased has been identified as Riddhi Ravi Kedia, a resident of Chavan Nagar, Dhankawadi. She was a Class 12 Commerce student.

According to the police, the family had dinner together on Wednesday night before going to bed. At around 5:30 a.m. on Thursday, Riddhi’s grandmother woke up and noticed that she was not inside the house. While searching for her, the family found a stool placed near the apartment’s balcony, raising concern. They immediately began searching the premises.

Riddhi was later found lying in a pool of blood in the society compound after apparently falling from the fifth floor. Family members and residents rushed her to a nearby private hospital, where doctors declared her dead on arrival.

Following the incident, officers from the Sahakarnagar Police Station reached the spot and conducted a detailed panchnama. An Accidental Death Report (ADR) has been registered, and police have taken custody of Riddhi’s mobile phone and books as part of the investigation.

Senior Police Inspector Vitthal Pawar said investigators are examining all possible angles to determine how the incident occurred. Police are yet to ascertain whether the fall was accidental or resulted from any other circumstances. Statements of family members and other relevant persons are being recorded, and further investigation is underway.

The incident has left residents of Nirmal Park Society and the local community in shock. Police have appealed to the public to avoid speculation until the investigation is completed and the exact circumstances surrounding the teenager’s death are established.
