Pune: 17-year-old Cousin nabbed for killing minor sister; Got inspired by Crime Patrol, Savdhan India shows

Chakan, 30 July 2020: Pimpri-Chinchwad police cracks the murder of a minor girl who was found dead in a canal last week. Her 17-year-old cousin has been nabbed in this case.
A 17-year-old girl was killed and left naked at the canal in the Chakan area of Pimpri-Chinchwad Police Commissionerate on Friday. Three youths acquainted with the girl were detained immediately on the charges of sexual harassment case lodged by her uncle earlier. However, after a thorough investigation, it revealed that her cousin murdered the girl out of rage.
The deceased would tease the boy for behaving and talking womanly as he played the role of a woman in Bharud. The accused told the police that he had destroyed the evidence; inspired by the movie ‘Dakshinatya Kanchana’ and crime series like ‘Crime Patrol and Savdhan India’.
According to police, the body of the girl was found naked in a bush on the outskirts of an Askhed village in Khed taluka last Friday. A case of murder was registered at Chakan police station in this regard. On the day of the murder, the deceased girl had gone alone to the nearby Karanja Vihire village to buy things for Nagpanchami festival. However, she did not return home, and later her dead body was found. Her phone was switched off.
While investigating the murder, Chakan police found out that the boy was first to inform the girl’s family about the murder. He told police that she had returned home in the afternoon after collecting a tiffin box. He gave detailed information about every item she bought from the shop. Police found some discrepancies in his statements and during questioning he confessed to the crime.
The accused used to play the role of a woman in Bharud’s program. The deceased girl was harassing the accused by telling him, “Why do you behave like a woman, why do you laugh like a woman?” which infuriated him and led him to hatch a murder plan. He was fond of watching crime fiction and poronography, and taking clues from Southern film Kanchana episodes one and two, Crime Patrol, Savdhan India he planned the entire plot.
On the day of the murder, the accused was continuously talking to the deceased on the phone. He kept a close watch on her movements. On the way to her home, the accused had hidden a large stone and a branch of a tree into the canal. He waited for her to return home. The accused intercepted her by reaching to the canal via another route. He suddenly hit her with the stone. The accused carried her body on his shoulders and threw it into the canal. He took off her clothes and hid them in bushes. Came back home, took a bath and destroyed the evidence.
Police said that the accused had also pretended to search for the girl by participating in a search operation. The investigation was done by a team comprising Assistant Police Inspector Vikram Gaikwad and Police Sub-Inspector of Police Vijay Jagdale under the guidance of Senior Police Inspector Prakash Dhas of Chakan police station.
