Pune: 18-Year-Old Girl Attacked with Chopper in Hinjawadi Over Love Affair; Three Detained

Hinjawadi, 1st November 2025: An 18-year-old girl was seriously injured after being attacked with a chopper in Hinjawadi, Pune’s IT hub, on Saturday evening. The assault, which police say stemmed from a love affair, occurred around 4:15 pm in Sakhre Vasti, Hinjawadi.
The Pimpri Chinchwad police have detained three people in connection with the incident — the girl’s boyfriend, identified as Yogesh Bhalerao, his friend Prem Laxman Waghmare, and a minor boy.
According to police, the girl and Yogesh had been in a relationship for the past few months. Yogesh, who is married, was reportedly pressuring her for marriage after his wife left him upon discovering the affair. Police said Yogesh grew angry after learning that the girl had become involved with another man.
In a fit of rage, Yogesh, along with his two accomplices, allegedly attacked the girl with a chopper, inflicting multiple injuries on her face, hand, and other parts of the body. Locals rushed the girl to a nearby hospital, where she is undergoing treatment. Her condition is reported to be stable.
Assistant Police Commissioner Kurhade and Police Inspector Balaji Pandhare of Hinjawadi Police Station confirmed that all three accused have been taken into custody. Further investigation is underway.
