Pune: 180 golfers for the Poona Club Golf League (PCGL) 2023
Pune, February 17, 2023: 180 Golfers from the city of Pune will be distributed amongst 12 teams participating in the PCGL, a golf tournament which is the most successful and talked about golf event in the city and on the golf circuit. “This year’s league will be on a much larger scale than the previous editions” said Mr Indraneel Mujgule, the Golf Coordinator of the Poona Club Golf Course.
The PCGL is based on a notional auction of players, duly bid by the team owners and this was conducted on 14th January 2023. Mr Mihir Kadam was bid for with the highest amount of Rs 59 Lacs. Mr Aman Oswal, all of 11 years of age, was the youngest to be auctioned and the oldest player is Mr Arun Deoskar at 79 years. “The fourth edition of the PCGL will be played over 5 days between 19th Feb and 5th March 2023”, declared Indraneel. The tournament will be as per the following format:
a) Foursome (alternate shot)
b) Four Ball (better ball)
For the PCGL 2023, we have Vaishali Restaurant as the title sponsor of the event. Its late Proprietor, Mr Jagannath Shetty, was an avid golfer and hence their interest in the game.
Ever since its inception, this golf tournament has been the most sought after event not only amongst the golfers but also leading corporates who sponsor the event with various F&B outlets, credit card companies, leading construction companies and automobile dealers. To name a few, The co-sponsors this year are Glenfiddich, Apexlynx and 24K by Kolte Patil, and the other sponsors are Effingut Beverages Ltd and Kothari Cars. This year 3 new teams have been added.
