Pune: 20 Shirur Residents From Farming Families Join Police Force As Sub Inspectors
Shirur, 1st January 2025: The administrative success of Shirur residents in the Pune District, particularly in government scholarships, is steadily increasing. At the recent Police Sub Inspector (PSI) convocation ceremony in Nashik, 20 Shirur residents from farming families took the oath of khaki uniform as PSIs, with their parents by their side. Rajesh Kumar, Chief Director of Maharashtra Police Academy, Nashik, and Additional Director General of Police, along with Judge Shrichand Daulatram Jagmalani from the District & Sessions Court, Nashik, administered the oath.
Shirur residents have consistently excelled in district and state merit lists for the fifth and eighth scholarship exams, with multiple students from the same school achieving top rankings in recent years. This success highlights the benefits of competitive exams at the school level, as demonstrated by a recent event at the Maharashtra Police Academy in Nashik. A total of 620 candidates who cleared the PSI exam in the 2020 Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) Exam completed their 13-month training in Nashik. These newly trained PSIs have since been posted in various locations, including Nagpur City, Sangli, Amravati, Mumbai, Gadchiroli, and Buldhana.
PSI Atul Pawar, from Jategaon Budruk in Shirur, shared, “Most of the 20 PSIs above have received scholarships at the school level. We believe the foundation for our success in competitive exams was laid at the primary school level. With the multiple-choice format of scholarship exams for posts other than state services, Shirur will continue to lead in the future.”
