Pune: 20 SRPF policemen found COVID positive after return from duty in Mumbai

Pune, May 27, 2020: The reports of 20 police personnel from the State Reserve Police Force (SRPF) Group No. 2 in Ramtekdi near Hadapsar, which was deployed in Mumbai, have been found positive. As a result, other policemen in contact with them have been quarantined. There are still 33 reports pending.

The prevalence of Coronavirus is increasing in Mumbai. Therefore, a company of ‘SRPF Group 2’ from Ramtekdi had gone to Mumbai for security duty. The company has about 90 policemen. The company was deployed in Ghatkopar area for security. The company had arrived in Pune on May 19. Then on May 21, some of the policemen started showing signs of COVID19. Therefore, the swabs of 20 policemen of this company were initially taken. The reports of six of them were positive.

After that, the reports of 14 more people came positive on yesterday. All these policemen are undergoing treatment at a private nursing home. Also, all the policemen who came in contact with them have been quarantined. At present, reports of 33 people are yet to be received, said Laxman Uttekar, Assistant Commandant of SRPF Group 2.
