Pune: 204 Trainees Complete DEME Course From INS Shivaji
Lonavala, 5th September 2022: A total of 204 trainees of Direct Entry Engineering Mechanic (DEME) comprising trainees from the Indian Navy, Coast Guard and two international trainees from Myanmar successfully completed professional ab-initio training of 23 weeks at INS Shivaji, the premier marine engineering training establishment of the Indian Navy. The trainees have undergone rigorous training on Diesel Engine, Gas Turbine, Steam Propulsion equipment and other auxiliary machineries. Through Hands on skills (HOS) training on various condition monitoring equipment, simulators and machinery control tools, the young trainees have been transformed into adept technical professionals. The trainees also participated in various sports events and outbound treks to historical forts.The Passing-out-Parade (PoP) was reviewed by Commodore Arvind Rawal, Commanding Officer, INS Shivaji, who complimented the passing out course and exhorted them to uphold the three most important tenets of the service i.e. Duty, Honour and Courage.
Jagan Verma, DEME, stood ‘First in the Overall Order of Merit’ and was awarded the FOC-IN-C (South) rolling trophy. Angaj, DEME, was adjudged ‘Best Sportsman’ of the course and awarded Commodore’s Rolling Trophy.
