Pune: 22-Year-Old Youth Drowns Near Panshet Dam During Outing With Friends
Panshet, 26th May 2026: A 22-year-old youth drowned while swimming in the canal area near Panshet Dam in Rajgad taluka on Monday afternoon.
The deceased has been identified as Ankush Manoj Chaudhary, a resident of Malik Nagar in Kondhwa Khurd. His cousin, Satyam Santosh Jha, lodged a complaint at the Velhe police station.
According to police, Ankush had gone to the Panshet Dam area with friends for an outing. At around 3 pm, he entered the water near the canal area of the dam. However, he reportedly lost balance after stepping into a deep pit and started drowning.
His friends attempted to rescue him but were unsuccessful due to the strong water flow.
After receiving information about the incident, police personnel and members of the disaster management team rushed to the spot and launched a search operation. The rescue team later recovered Ankush’s body from the water.
Further investigation is underway.
