Pune: 27 Criminals Externed From Lohgaon, Viman Nagar, Wagholi, Chandan Nagar, Lonikand, Bharati Vidyapeeth And Wanawadi Ahead Of Ganeshotsav
Pune, 12th September 2026: Pune Police have externed 27 habitual offenders from different parts of the city ahead of the Ganeshotsav celebrations, as part of preventive measures to maintain law and order during the festival.
The action covers police station jurisdictions including Lohgaon, Viman Nagar, Wagholi, Chandan Nagar, Lonikand, Bharati Vidyapeeth and Wanawadi. Of the 27 externed persons, 22 are from Police Zone 7, while three are from Bharati Vidyapeeth Police Station and two from Wanawadi Police Station.
The externment orders have been issued against individuals with criminal records as part of measures to prevent possible disturbances during the festival, when large crowds are expected across Pune.
Among those externed from Lohgaon Police Station are Gulam alias Guddu Navrulhaq Mustafa Khan (50), Shubham Sukhdev Sonawane (38), Deepak Tukaram Gaikwad (46), Atul Gautam Dhokre (35) and Aarti Sanjay Sathe alias Jamdade (43).
From Viman Nagar Police Station, the externed persons include Anil Sahebrao Veer (47), Mukesh Bajrang Burunge (36) and Sagar Gautam Avdhoot (22).
From Wagholi Police Station, the action has been taken against Rina Pawan Rajput (35), Dattatray Ranganath Gaikwad (29) and Mahesh Devaram Londhe (26).
Those externed from Lonikand Police Station include Sagar Raju alias Rajendra Bhalsing (32), Sachin Kisan Shinde (39), Harshad Kumar Shinde (24), Roshan Kumar Sahu (24), Ajinkya Dadasaheb Maskute (27), Santosh Govind Jadhav (28) and Prakash Baburao Shivbhakte (34).
Police have also taken preventive action against offenders from Chandan Nagar, Bharati Vidyapeeth and Wanawadi police station jurisdictions.
The externment action comes ahead of Ganeshotsav, during which Pune witnesses a significant increase in public gatherings, processions and movement of devotees. Police authorities have been taking preventive measures to ensure that individuals considered a potential threat to public order remain outside the specified areas during the festival period.
