Pune: 27-Year-Old Woman Killed in Dumper Accident in Wagholi; Driver Lacked Valid License

Wagholi, 2nd May 2025: A 27-year-old woman tragically lost her life after being hit and dragged by a dumper truck in Wagholi on Wednesday evening. The accident occurred around 6 PM in front of the IDBI Bank on Bypass Road, sparking outrage among local residents.
The deceased has been identified as Rupali Suraj Tiwari, a resident of Parth Villas on Bypass Road. Her husband, Suraj Tiwari, who was riding the two-wheeler, sustained minor injuries in the incident.
According to police officials, the couple was traveling on a motorcycle when a dumper truck rammed into them from behind. The collision caused Rupali to fall and be dragged under the vehicle, leading to her immediate death due to severe injuries.
Following a complaint by Suraj Tiwari, the Wagholi Police have registered a case against the dumper driver, Shubham Sudam Maske (25, resident of Lonikand), and the vehicle owner, Pramod Sambhaji Bhadale (resident of Wagholi).
Preliminary investigations revealed that the driver did not possess a valid driving license and was operating the heavy vehicle on a route where such traffic is restricted.
Senior Police Inspector Yuvraj Hande of Wagholi Police Station, along with the traffic division, arrived at the spot promptly to manage the situation, which had drawn a crowd of angry and distressed onlookers.
Both the driver and the owner have been booked under relevant sections of the BNS and the Motor Vehicles Act for negligence and endangering public safety. Further investigation is underway.
