Pune: 28-Year-Old Resident Doctor Dies by Suicide; Police Probe Underway

Pune, 9th June 2025: A 28-year-old resident doctor at Ruby Hall Clinic, Dr. Shyam Vora, was found dead in his hostel room late Sunday night.
The incident came to light around 10 PM when security personnel, alerted by the unusually prolonged silence and a locked door, broke into the room to find Dr. Vora hanging. He was staying at the doctors’ hostel associated with Ruby Hall Clinic.
The case is currently under investigation by Koregaon Park Police. Although the exact cause of the suicide remains unclear, officers recovered a handwritten note containing the password to Dr. Vora’s mobile phone. Authorities are now examining the phone for further clues as part of the inquiry.
Dr. Vora’s family, based in Gujarat, has requested that no further action be taken until they arrive in Pune.
Responding to the incident, Ruby Hall Clinic released an official statement. Manjusha Kulkarni, Legal Advisor to the hospital, expressed deep sorrow and emphasized that the matter is under active police investigation. “We are devastated by the loss of our resident doctor, Dr. Shyam Vora. At this time, we want to make it clear that media reports suggesting workplace harassment are baseless. We urge restraint from speculation until the investigation is complete,” she stated.
