Pune: 292 CCTV Cameras Installed In 150 Locations Of PCMC

Pimpri Chinchwad, 18th August 2022: The Control and Command Center (CCC) in ward-A of the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has been operational since August 15. As part of the smart city objective, up to 292 CCTV cameras will now keep an eye on 150 locations and monitor traffic flow, disaster management, and other societal challenges to offer seamless answers.

Along with CCTVs, other new technologies include eight video display devices (VMD), 33 wifi routers, four environment sensors, 26 solid waste dumpers, a parking space, and 1,700 smart water metres.

 

According to Kiranraj Yadav, CEO of Pimpri-Chinchwad Smart City Ltd., the integrated CCC will aid in resolving concerns with the environment, parking, water, transportation, and traffic. CCTV monitoring will assist keep law and order in place and help reduce crime.

 

Yadav said, “In general, the CCC will work towards the prevention, identification, investigation, and monitoring of crimes and criminal activities. It will function for clever implementation programmes like signal optimization and traffic rule enforcement, which will further reduce travel time.”

It would guarantee preventive and corrective measures in addition to water and sewage systems to create a cleaner and healthier environment for inhabitants.

 

According to officials, the centre would serve as a single point of contact for all governmental matters.

 

To handle issues with the smart city, Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Ltd, anti-encroachment, police, road, security, garden, health, water supply, and fire department, a central IT-based system would be set up.

 

To implement CCC, a group of local government representatives has been selected, and it will respond to citizen complaints immediately.

 

The CCC was launched on Independence Day by municipal commissioner Rajesh Patil, who said, “Although it has only been started in zonal ward-A on priority, it shall be implemented throughout the city by July next year.”
