Chinchwad, 30th December 2023: In anticipation of New Year’s Eve celebrations, the Pimpri-Chinchwad Police Commissionerate has taken proactive measures to ensure public safety. With a focus on preventing untoward incidents caused by intoxicated drivers, the police have set up 30 checkpoints across the city.

The specific locations of these checkpoints have not been disclosed to avoid any potential attempts to evade the checks. The aim is to maintain the element of surprise and discourage individuals from breaking traffic rules.

At each checkpoint, every driver will undergo thorough interrogation, and breath samples will be tested using a breathalyzer machine. Drivers found under the influence of alcohol will be booked, and their vehicles will be impounded. The police emphasize the importance of not driving under the influence of drugs or engaging in reckless behaviour.

As New Year’s Eve is a time for celebration, the Pimpri Chinchwad Police encourage citizens to welcome the new year with enthusiasm while adhering to the law and contributing to maintaining peace. The checkpoints serve as a preventive measure to ensure that the festivities remain safe for all residents.
