Pune: 30 Tortoises, Turtles Seized By Forest Department From Smugglers
Pune, November 20, 2020: Pune forest department officials have seized as many as 30 turtles and tortoises from two persons from the city. The officials have detained them in connection with the illegal possession of turtles.
“We have seized 20 tortoises of star species and 10 black-spotted pond turtles”, said Rahul Patil, Deputy Conservator of Forest (DCF), Pune. He added that the action was conducted by the Pune forest department and the duo was caught in Ganesh Peth, Pune.
The action was carried out by Assistant Conservator of Forest Sharad Rajguru, Range Forest Officer Mukesh Sanas and flying squad’s officer Sachin Raghtwan and guards Sameer Ingle, Anil Rathod and Madhukar Godge.
