Pune: 32-Year-Old Man Brutally Murdered Near Z-Bridge; FIR Registered
Deccan, 19th April 2026: A 32-year-old man was found murdered with his throat slit in the Mutha riverbed near the prominent Z-Bridge on Sunday morning.
The deceased has been identified as Krushal Kasabe, a resident of Dhankawadi.
According to the First Information Report (FIR) registered at the Deccan Police Station, the incident came to light on Sunday, April 19, 2026, at around 7:30 AM. The body was discovered in an open space near the riverbed, situated between the Z-Bridge and Lakdi Pul (bridge).
Preliminary investigations reveal that an unidentified assailant stabbed the victim multiple times on the neck with a sharp weapon, killing him on the spot.
Following a complaint filed by Policeman Akash Balasaheb Sonawane (32), an FIR (CR No. 104/2026) was officially registered at 2:33 PM against an unknown person under Section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Upon receiving information about the gruesome crime, a heavy police deployment was dispatched to the spot. The crime scene was inspected by several top officials, including Additional Commissioner (West Region) Rajesh Bansode, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 1) Krushikesh Rawale, Assistant Commissioner of Police (Vishrambaug Division) Chandrakant Bhosale, ACP Sankhe from the Crime Branch, and Senior Police Inspector Girisha Nimbalkar, in-charge of Deccan Police Station.
A forensic team was also called in to gather physical evidence from the location. According to the police report, there is no CCTV surveillance covering the exact spot where the body was found.
The accused remains at large, and no arrests have been made so far. Senior Police Inspector Girisha Nimbalkar is leading the ongoing investigation to ascertain the motive behind the murder and to track down the accused.
