324 Drivers Penalised Today for Traffic Violations at Swargate Chowk

Swargate, 3rd November 2025: The Pune Traffic Police conducted a special drive at Jedhe Chowk in Swargate today, targeting auto-rickshaw drivers and other motorists violating traffic rules. The operation resulted in penalties for 324 offenders for various violations, including signal jumping, overloading, and refusal to accept passengers.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Himmat Jadhav said, “The Swargate area witnesses heavy vehicular movement throughout the day, and frequent violations disrupt smooth traffic flow. Today’s action was aimed at ensuring discipline among drivers and creating awareness about following traffic norms.”

According to officials, the key offences detected during the operation included 46 cases of signal jumping, 78 cases of rickshaw drivers not wearing uniforms, and 97 cases of carrying extra passengers. Additionally, 48 rickshaw drivers were fined for refusing to accept passengers, while 16 were booked for disobeying police instructions. Other violations included driving through no-entry zones (10 cases), unauthorized parking (2), missing documents (5), and fancy number plates (5).

The drive was carried out under the supervision of Senior Police Officer NI Kshirsagar and the Swargate Traffic Division team.

DCP Jadhav further appealed to citizens to cooperate with the traffic police and adhere to the rules for smoother traffic management across the city. “We request all citizens to follow traffic rules and contribute to building a safe and disciplined road environment,” he added.
