Pune: 350 Women Benefit from Spread Happiness Foundation’s Menstrual Hygiene Awareness Camp

Pune, 5th June 2023: Spread Happiness Foundation, a leading non-funded NGO from Pune known for its remarkable work on novel causes, organized a special campaign on the eve of World Menstrual Hygiene Day. The foundation, which strives to uplift disadvantaged sections of society, including children, women, and the elderly, focuses on providing education, skill-building opportunities, health and hygiene awareness programs, and support for marginalized communities across the country.

The campaign witnessed the active participation of college students Varun Mahajan and Tejas from the University of Petroleum and Energy Studies in Dehradun, along with intern Ishita Bhumkar. Ishita passionately explained the menstrual cycle and related hygiene points to the women residing in the Chinchwad slum area and school-going students. Local social workers Narendra Chavan and Suresh Borhade also joined this initiative for the first time, eager to gain valuable experience through collaboration with the organization.

A gathering of 350 women took part in the enlightening awareness camp, where sanitary pads, snacks, and drinks were distributed to the attendees. During the event, a 15-minute awareness session was conducted by the NGO’s founder, Mr.Soumya, who shed light on the importance of preventing cervical cancer through proper hygiene practices in daily life.

Saroj Roul, Satya Dash, software engineer Dwarika Choudhary, Naveen, and Sachin actively supported the event and ensured its smooth functioning. Their presence greatly contributed to maintaining discipline and order throughout the session.
