Pune, 22nd June 2023: A shocking case of fraud has emerged in Lonavala, where 37 individuals have been duped out of a total of Rs 10.36 lakh under the pretence of a Chardham Yatra offers.

The Lonavala city police station has registered a case of fraud against a Pune-based travel company driver who deceived the victims by providing them with counterfeit refund cheques after they had deposited money for the Chardham Yatra.

Pradeepkumar Dattatray Mode, a 55-year-old resident of Lonavla, reported the incident to the Lonavala City police station. The fraud case has been filed against Sankeh Ramchandra Bhadale, the proprietor of Dream Caster Tour, a Pune-based travel company. Bhadale claimed that his company, Dreamcaster Tours, had organized a Kedarnath Chardham Yatra for 37 residents of Lonavala. To facilitate the trip, cheques of Rs. 28,000 each, amounting to a total of Rs. 10.36 lakh, were collected from the victims.

However, the yatra was subsequently canceled, with promises of rescheduling it in June. On 18th May, Bhadale handed over cheques dated for that day to the victims. When the cheques were deposited in the bank, they were dishonored due to insufficient funds in the account. Since then, Bhadale’s phone has been switched off, leaving the victims in despair. Realizing they had fallen victim to a fraudulent scheme, all of the affected individuals promptly reported the scam to the Lonavala Police.
