Pune: 38 Nomination Papers Filed for Maval Seat; Three Candidates Share ‘Sanjog Waghere’ Name!

Pimpri Chinchwad, 26th April 2024: 38 people have filed nomination papers for the Maval Lok Sabha constituency. These applications will be scrutinized today, and the deadline for withdrawing applications is April 29th. Meanwhile, two candidates with names similar to Mahavikas Aghadi candidate Sanjog Waghere-Patil are competing against each other in the election fray.

The nomination process for the Maval Lok Sabha Constituency commenced on 18th April. There were no submissions on the inaugural day. However, 1 application was received on the second day, followed by 3 more on the third day, which notably included that of Shiv Sena Mahayuti candidate MP Shrirang Barone. On April 23rd, six candidates, including Sanjog Waghere-Patil from Mahavikas Aghadi, submitted their nomination papers, while on April 24th, eight candidates, including Madhavi Joshi from Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi, followed suit. On the final day, April 25th, a total of 20 people submitted their nominations, bringing the total count to 38 applications. These submissions will undergo scrutiny on Friday, April 26th, with the deadline for withdrawal set for April 29th. Symbols will be allocated to independent candidates.

Sanjay Subhash Waghere from Bandharpada in Dindori taluka of Nashik district and Sanjog Ravindra Patil from Uran have filed their independent candidature. These two candidates, whose names and surnames are similar to Mahavikas Aghadi candidate Sanjog Waghere-Patil, are in the election fray. On this occasion, it was observed that the tactic of confusing the proposed leaders by fielding candidates with similar names has been employed once again.

In a similar scenario, during the 2014 elections, two candidates with names resembling those of Laxman Jagtap and Shrirang Barne were also in the fray.
