Pune: 3rd Father Schoch Memorial Inter School Hockey Tournament 2023
PUNE: 1 December, 2023: Col. Bhagat H.S, PCMC School, Loyola H.S and St. Patrick’s School registered contrasting wins to reach the semifinals of the Under-14 section in the 3rd Father Schoch Memorial Inter School Hockey Tournament 2023 at the Maj. Dhyanchand Hockey Stadium, Nehrunagar-Pimpri.
The tournament, conducted by the Ex Loyola Students Network (ELAN) and Loyola High School, Pune, has attracted over a dozen teams in the city and is being played in the Under-14, 17 and 12 sections respectively.
Col. Bhagat H.S were involved in a hard-fought day and made the most of playing two matches in the section before putting an end to Lokmanya Tilak School 3-0 to enter the last-4. Early goals by Eshan Pardeshi (1st) and Ayan Shaikh (3rd) helped the victors gain a grip on the game, while the fourth quarter had Eshan (35th) score his second of the game.
Earlier in Round-1, Col. Bhagat High School won a thriller against Modern H.S, Shivajinagar 4-3 via the shoot-out. Both teams were locked 2-2 at the end of full time.
Kartik Pillay (7th) gave Col. Bhagat High School the lead before Shreyas Musale (39th a and 58th) leveled scores 1-1 for Modern H.S. Down 1-2, Col Bhagat High School have Chaitanya Athawale (59th) convert a penalty corner to make it 2-2 and push the game into the ‘shoot-out’
In the ensuing shoot-out, Kartik and Arsh Shaikh scored for Col Bhagat High School, while Swayambhu Pardhe reduced the margin for Modern H.S.
Loyola High School, Pashan earned a walkover after Shri Anantrao Kulkarni English Medium School, Narayangaon failed to turn up on Friday.
In another last-8 match, PCMC School aided by a three-goal effort by Prince Patiyal (10th, 18th, 49th) beat Muktai Marathi School: 5-0. Completing the tally was Rohan Maske (49th) and Ali Shaikh (56th).
Completing the semifinal line up was St. Patricks H.S who were 7-0 victors over Sant Tukaram H.S, Lohegaon: 0. Shaurya Menge (20th, 32nd, 43rd, 50th) lead the goal rush with a 4-goal effort, Kiran Khadka (5th), James Nitta (14th) and Sandesh Kudale (30th) chipped in a goal each.
