Pune: 4th Transnational Project Meeting of the Erasmus+ CBHE Project Climate Change Policy and Law (CCP_Law) from September 11th to September 16th, 2023
Pune, 7th September 2023: Symbiosis Law School, Pune (SLS Pune), constituent of Symbiosis International (Deemed University) (SIU) is one of the foremost law schools in India and has been ranked as the top 10 best law schools in the country for the sixth consecutive year under the NIRF rankings. SLS Pune is spearheading a European EU Erasmus+ KA2 Capacity Building Higher Education (CBHE) Project called the ‘Curricula Development on Climate Change Policy and Law (CCP_Law)’.
As a part of the project deliverables, there are physical project meetings, networking meetings, and dissemination that have to be conducted at partner institutions to develop Master of Law and Postgraduate Diploma Programmes on Climate Change Policy and Law which will be conducted in a transnational mode. The previous project meetings were held in Girona, Spain in June 2022 and in Rajkot, India in February 2023. As a part of the project deliverable, the 4th Transnational Project meeting is scheduled at Pune- SIU and SLSP from 11th to 16th September 2023.
SLS, Pune is expecting 30-35 delegates from the six partner countries of the consortium consisting of the Coventry University from the United Kingdom, University of Girona from Spain, European Knowledge Spot and Pedmede from Greece, University Utara Malaysia and International Islamic University from Malaysia, Hue University and Hanoi Law University from Vietnam, and the Marwadi University from India to attend the meeting. This project meeting will include Networking meetings, Project Meetings, Workshops, Capacity Building, Training Programs, a Regional Seminar, and cultural visits. One of the important deliverables of the project this meeting will be the inaugural of the Symbiosis Climate Change Law & Policy Centre which will be housed in SLS-Pune.
The first day of the Project meeting will be held at S B Road Vishwabhavan Campus in order to facilitate the formal meeting with the top management of Symbiosis International University and hold a Press Meet as it is a part of the deliverable for wider reach and dissemination.
Symbiosis Law School, Pune will also be organizing Regional Round Table on 11th September, 2023. The Round Table will be an opportunity to create awareness amongst the national media, decision-makers, and stakeholders regarding the importance of the delivery of the educational course on Climate Change Policy and Law. Also, the platform will be used to, interact with high-level key stakeholders, and discuss the accreditation process.
One of the highlights of the Transnational Project Meeting is the inauguration of the Symbiosis Climate Change Law & Policy Centre [SCCLPC] which will be utilized for conducting clinical legal research and be used as a pedagogic lab for various engagements with academia and industry. The Centre will be used for research, experiential learning, and small group seminars discussions for UG and PG students who will be enrolled in the Dual Degree Programme and Joint Degree Programme pertaining to Climate Change Policy and Law. This centre will further act in association with other SIU centres such as Symbiosis Centre for Climate Change and Sustainability (SCCCS) and Symbiosis Centre for Waste Resource Management (SCWRM).
As a part of the visit, SLS, Pune will also organize a Regional Seminar on Climate Change Law & Policy on the 15th of September 2023. The Regional Seminar aims to raise awareness of the upcoming pilot phase, to motivate prospective legal practitioners and environmentalists to enroll and participate in the proposed masters level programme in Climate Change Policy and Law.
Considering the significance and importance of climate change in the present scenario this project meet assumes significance and which will eventually lead to generating education and awareness amongst all stakeholders and suggest appropriate law reforms to the concerned authorities.
