Pimpri, 29th March 2025: The construction of a flyover at Dairy Farm on behalf of Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) is currently in progress and 55 percent of the work of this project has been completed so far. After the completion of this bridge, travel will be more convenient for the citizens of Pimpri and the surrounding area and will help in reducing traffic congestion to a great extent.

“The Municipal Corporation is trying to solve the traffic congestion problem in the city. The flyover project at Dairy Farm will bring about a significant improvement in the traffic of the entire area including Pimpri Chinchwad. All the concerned agencies and administration are trying to complete the project on time. After this bridge is opened for everyone, the traffic problem in Pimpri will be solved and the travel of the citizens of the area will be facilitated”, said Shekhar Singh, Commissioner and Administrator, Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation.

The work order for the flyover project at Pimpri Dairy Farm was given in March 2023. However, the work was delayed as some trees were obstructing the construction of this bridge. The proposal submitted to the Municipal Corporation’s Tree Authority Committee in April 2023 for felling and replanting trees was approved in August 2023. 142 trees that were obstructing the bridge site were removed and 64 trees were replanted. Since some of the trees in the approved plan were within the boundaries of the Conservation Department, they had to be evaluated and permission had to be obtained from the Conservation Department. The Forest Department completed the evaluation in September 2023 and finally, in March 2024, after receiving permission for tree felling, 142 trees were removed in May 2024. Also, 64 trees were replanted in November 2024 as per the guidelines of the Ministry of Defense.

Since this bridge is affiliated to the Railway Department, there was also a delay in various approval processes. The process of necessary approvals and transfer of funds for changing the Overhead Equipment (OHE) and other structures of the Railway Department is currently underway. The Railway Department has demanded an advance amount of Rs. 74.89 lakh for this work, and the process has been completed and the amount has been paid. At present, the process is in the final stage for the approval of the Railway Department. Currently, the work has been started at a fast pace after coordinating all the departments.

The bridge to be built on the railway track at Pimpri Dairy Farm will provide uninterrupted traffic. This will save time for citizens traveling for jobs, business or other purposes. After the opening of this bridge, the citizens of Dairy Farm, Pimple Saudagar, Rahatani, Kalewadi and Pimpri villages in Pimpri will get great relief. Apart from this, this project will benefit the citizens in terms of convenience, safety and fuel saving and will help them travel quickly and easily on the Pune Mumbai highway as well as to Tukaram Nagar Metro station.

Benefits of the project:
•The citizens of Pimpri and surrounding areas will get easy access to the Mumbai-Pune highway.
•The closure of the railway gate will reduce traffic congestion and reduce travel delays.
•It will be easier to get to Sant Tukaram Nagar Metro station.
•There will be a huge saving of fuel and time.
