Pune: 6-Year-Old Boy Suffers Category-3 Injuries in Dog Attack at Bramha Sun City

Pune, 31st October 2023 – In a distressing incident, a 6-year-old boy endured a harrowing dog attack in the serene environs of the Bramha Sun City Co-Operative Housing Society, located in Wadgaon Sheri, Pune. On the evening of October 31, around 5:30 pm, the child fell victim to an onslaught by a group of four to five dogs.

 

According to witnesses among the society members, the young boy had been innocently playing within the society’s compound when, without warning, the pack of dogs pounced on him. Fearing for his safety, he fled, but not before sustaining severe leg injuries from the vicious dog bites. Swiftly responding to the dire situation, vigilant society members rushed him to the nearest hospital for immediate medical attention.

 

This horrifying incident marks the second dog attack within a mere fifteen-day span involving a child within the Bramha Sun City Co-Operative Housing Society.

 

Dr. Sarika Funde, the Veterinary Superintendent of the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), declared, “We have been informed about the distressing dog bite incident at the Bramha Sun City Co-Operative Housing Society. In accordance with established protocols, the dogs responsible will be impounded and subjected to a ten-day observation period. During this time, they will undergo rigorous checks for rabies, and should any dog be identified as rabid, the appropriate procedures will be initiated. PMC remains committed to adhering to the guidelines mandated by the Supreme Court, which stipulate that the dogs will be released back into the same locality after the observation period. Additionally, during this time, a comprehensive sterilization process will be carried out to ensure the safety of the community.”
