Pune: 68-Year-Old Woman Overpowers Chain-Snatcher In Baner, Police Suspect Robber Involved In More Cases

Baner, 28 February 2021: Showing presence of mind and grit, a 68-year-old woman nabbed a youth who was fleeing after snatching her gold chain in Baner on Saturday night. The youth has been handed over to Pune city police for further investigation.
Based on a complaint from the woman, Chatushrungi police station has registered an FIR against Dayanand Ashruba Korbe (26) of Marunji and his accomplice who managed to escape.
According to police, the complainant and her husband were walking around 8.20 pm on Saturday near Albacitta society corner on Murkute Garden road, when the two youths arrived on a two-wheeler. One of them snatched her gold chain worth Rs 56,000.
“The complainant caught hold of the shirt of the robber. However, he managed to get out of her clutches and tried to flee by riding the vehicle of his accomplice. But the woman and her husband pushed the vehicle and they fell down. The woman again caught him but the assailant pushed her away and fled. She immediately raised an alarm catching the attention of the passersby who nabbed the robber”, said Police Sub Inspector Mahesh Bhosale who is investigating the case.
