Pune: 7th Dileep Padgaonkar Memorial Lecture on ‘Contemporary News Media at Crossroads’ by PIC

Pune, 25th November 2023: Pune International Centre (PIC) will organise the 7th Dileep Padgaonkar Memorial Lecture on Monday, November 27, 2023, at Symbiosis Vishwabhavan, Senapati Bapat Road, Pune, at 11am.
Eminent journalist Girish Kuber, Editor-in-Chief, Loksatta, will speak on the topic ‘Contemporary News Media at Crossroads’.

A celebrated journalist and writer, Girish Kuber has authored 6 books in Marathi and is the author of The Tatas: How a Family Built a Business and a Nation and Maha Rashtra: The Making of a Renaissance State. He has also worked with the Times Of India and The Economic Times.

The late Dileep Padgaonkar was an eminent journalist and one of the architects of the Pune International Centre (PIC) who headed its programmes committee. He was Times of India’s Paris correspondent, its editor (1986-1994), and executive managing editor (1998), before retiring in 2002 to continue with TOI in a consulting capacity. He was on a panel of Government of India’s interlocutors for a dialogue with people and politicians of J&K (2010), served on international bodies including Unesco, the Nehru Memorial Museum and Library Society, The South Asia Free Media Association, and the Observer Research Foundation (ORF). He was the Chair Professor, R K Laxman Chair at Symbiosis. In 2002, he was honoured with the Legion d’Honneur, France’s highest civilian award, for his contribution to journalism.
