Pune, 27th February 2023: The Pune Traffic police is experimenting an 8-hour ban on heavy vehicles on the road from ABC Farm (Koregaon Park) chowk to Keshavnagar-Mundhwa chowk and Jahangirnagar chowk (near The Cult).

The ban is aimed at regulating heavy traffic congestion during peak hours in the city, as traffic scenarios have worsened and citizens have long demanded safe and smooth traffic.

The Mundhwa Traffic Division has issued a circular specifying that heavy vehicles will be prohibited for 8 hours to regulate traffic congestion, with the ban temporarily imposed to assess its effectiveness.

If successful, it will become a permanent measure. Heavy motor vehicles will be prohibited from 7-11 am and 5-9 pm on the aforementioned route.
The ban is intended to curb traffic congestion during peak hours, and DCP (Traffic) Vijay Kumar Magar has issued the order, which will be in effect until March 12, 2023. The final decision will be made after considering citizens’ feedback, and only heavy motor vehicles performing essential services such as fire brigade, police vehicles, and ambulances will be allowed.

People can send their feedback to Control Room, Office of DCP (Traffic), Near Yerwada post office, Pune.
