Pune: 8 Persons In Lonavala Fined For Consuming ‘Ganja’
Lonavala, 23rd August 2023: In a bid to curb the menace of drug abuse, Superintendent of Police (Pune rural) Ankit Goyal and Assistant Superintendent of Police (Lonavla sub-division) Satyasai Karthik have initiated the ‘Sankalp Nashamukti’ campaign.
As part of this endeavor, Lonavla City Police Station apprehended eight individuals for consuming the intoxicating substance ‘Ganja’. Swift action was taken, with the suspects promptly investigated and presented before the court along with relevant charge sheets. The court subsequently levied a fine of Rs 1000 on each accused, with a provision of a seven-day jail term in case of non-payment.
Authorities emphasize that any instance of drug-related activity should be immediately reported to the Lonavala City Police Station. Additionally, citizens are strongly encouraged to steer clear of all forms of drugs, thereby safeguarding their own well-being and that of their families.
The operation was executed by a dedicated team led by Police Inspector Sitaram Dubal of Lonavla City Police Station, supported by police personnel including Jayaraj Patankar, Hanumant Shinde, Gaikwad, and Sudhir Dumbare, among others.
