Pune: 8-Year-Old Girl Dies After Tractor Hits Her in Pisoli; Driver Flees Spot
Pune, 20th September 2026: An eight-year-old girl died after allegedly being knocked down by a tractor in the Pisoli area of Pune on September 17.
The incident took place at around 9:30 am near Sumangalam Masal Chawl, opposite Ambedkar Hotel on Hole Vasti Road in Pisoli.
According to police, the tractor was allegedly being driven at high speed and in a negligent manner when it hit the girl, who was walking along the road. She sustained serious injuries in the accident.
The injured girl was immediately taken for medical treatment. However, she later succumbed to her injuries, police said.
Police said the tractor driver allegedly fled the spot without informing the authorities or providing assistance to the injured child.
Following the incident, an FIR was registered at Kalepadal Police Station on Friday.
Police have also alleged that the tractor owner, Bhausaheb Masal, 47, had allowed the accused driver to operate the vehicle despite the driver allegedly not having the required permission to drive it.
A case has been registered against the tractor driver and owner under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Motor Vehicles Act, including sections related to rash and negligent driving, causing death by negligence and other traffic violations.
Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident and the alleged involvement of the tractor owner.
