Pune: 80-Year-Old Man Tied, Robbed by Teen Caretaker in Koregaon Park

Koregaon Park, 5th January 2025: In a shocking incident, a 15-year-old boy, employed as a caretaker, allegedly robbed an 80-year-old man at knifepoint in Agrasen Society, Koregaon Park, Pune. The minor, who hails from Madhya Pradesh, tied up the elderly man, stole ₹32,000 in cash and two mobile phones, and fled the scene. The police successfully apprehended the accused within 12 hours of the incident.
Senior Police Inspector Runal Mulla of Koregaon Park Police Station provided details about the case. The victim had hired the minor boy 20 days ago to assist him as a caretaker. During this period, no relatives visited his house. Sensing the isolation, the boy allegedly planned the robbery.
The incident occurred on January 1, between 7 and 8 p.m., when the accused forced the elderly man into his bedroom at knifepoint. He tied his hands and feet, gagged him with a handkerchief, and threatened to kill him if he didn’t hand over his valuables. The minor then ransacked the cupboard, taking ₹32,000 and two mobile phones, before fleeing the house.
Despite being bound and gagged, the man managed to free himself after about half an hour. His cries for help alerted neighbors, who rushed to his aid and informed the police. The elderly man was immediately admitted to the hospital for treatment.
A police team was dispatched to investigate the case. Using technical analysis of the stolen mobile phone’s location, the team tracked the minor to the Karnataka Express train heading toward Madhya Pradesh. With the assistance of Bhusawal police, the accused was apprehended and taken into custody.
“The accused was arrested within 12 hours of the incident,” said Senior Inspector Mulla.
