Baner, 23rd November 2023: A tragic incident unfolded in Pune’s Baner area on Wednesday, claiming the life of a 9-year-old boy named Rudra Ketan Raut. The young boy was on his way home to Veerbhadra Nagar after finishing school when a group of iron rods fell and struck him on the head at an under-construction site near Ganraj Chowk.

Despite swift efforts to rush Rudra to the nearby hospital, he succumbed to his injuries at Jupiter Hospital at 1:46 am. The incident has sparked concerns about safety measures at construction sites, prompting emergency and police authorities to launch a preliminary investigation into the circumstances surrounding the tragic event.

Eyewitnesses at the scene reported that the iron rods, presumably dislodged from a higher level of the building under construction, fell and struck Rudra on the head. Initial findings suggest a lack of proper safety and security measures at the construction site, raising questions about potential negligence.

The Raut family, grappling with the loss of their child, alleges negligence not only on the part of the contractor but also the builder. They assert that a case should be registered against both parties for their alleged role in the unfortunate incident.

This incident has brought to light the broader issue of safety and security at construction sites, particularly in densely populated areas like Baner. Concerned residents are now urging stricter regulations and enhanced safety protocols to prevent similar accidents in the future.
