Pimpri, 25th March 2023: The sewage treatment plant in Dapodi, operated by the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC), has been accused of releasing untreated water directly into the river.

Environmentalist and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) member Raviraj Kale has demanded that the Maharashtra Pollution Control Board (MPCB) and PCMC take serious action to investigate this issue.

The PCMC had built a sewage treatment plant in Dapodi with a capacity of 20 million liters. However, untreated sewage is being discharged directly into the river. Additionally, workers at the plant have not been provided with proper safety equipment, such as boots and gloves.

The authorities have failed to hold the contractor accountable for this issue, leading to their continued negligence. The health and safety of the workers at the sewage treatment plant is being compromised, and the release of untreated sewage into the river is putting the ecosystem at risk.
