Pune: Aarambh League 2022 Basketball Tournament Begins In Kharadi

Kharadi, 8th October 2022: The Aarambh Basketball League tapped off in the Rajaram Bhiku Pathare Stadium in Kharadi today. The Aarambh League is the first Basketball Tournament in India for the age group of 6-13 years with a professional atmosphere.

The stadium was loud and packed with supporters for the opening ceremony and matches to boost the morale of young kids. The league will go on for 8 days starting from 8th October.

The Aarambh Basketball league is being telecasted live on JioTv, SPORTVOT as well as the Facebook and YouTube channels of Punekar News. More than 600 kids are participating in the League with 66 teams of boys and girls under the age of 13 and 102 matches to be played across 8 days with experienced coaches and Maharashtra Basketball Association qualified referees

The chief guests present during the Opening Ceremony and Games were Surendra Pathare Foundation founder Surendra Pathare, Dnyaneshwar Katke, Jitendra Chowksi, Prime Academy CMD Lalit Kumar, Maharashtra State Basketball Association secretary Shatrugan Gokhale, Sachin Gaiwal, Govind Patil, Amar Kanade, Seema Talwar, Sunita Rai, Sameer Wagh, Sangram Patangre, Manik Thosare and hosted by Anirudh Pole of ABC Fitness Firm.

Shatrughan Gokhale, secretary of the Maharashtra State Basketball Association, said that “The concept of the league is very good as clubs and societies have been bonded together through this league. This league is a good platform for the budding players who want to play for the district and national teams in the future. This league is good for promoting grassroots basketball and sports in general among young kids. The number of kids participating is huge and it will bring great awareness to them with such a professional environment.”

Lalit Kumar, founder of Prime Academy which is a popular institute for NEET and IIT JEE examination coaching in Pune, added, “It is a great initiative by ABC to promote sports in our country. Nowadays, screen time for children is exuberantly high, and such events help them remain physically and mentally fit. When they aim to win the cup and practice hard, their leadership qualities and teamwork also get enhanced.”

Surendra Pathare added, “The preparations were going for one and half years for this league. Also, the infrastructure development for basketball at this venue makes me believe that eastern Pune will become basketball hub for Pune City and the entire Maharashtra.”

Aarambh league took off with the opening match between Arena Hustlers and Alley Oops U13 Girls. The score for the match was 10-3 with Arena Hustlers getting the opening win.

Siya S with 6 points and Anvi P with 4 points led the team to victory whereas 2 points from Sharanya couldn’t help the team advance.

The second match of the day was between Net Hoopers and Arena Hustlers U13 Boys. Arena Hustlers secured the win with a final score of 16-10 with Aditya scoring 8 points and Ginit scoring 4 points for the team. Neel contributed 5 points and Harman scored 4 points for Net Rippers.
