Bhosari, 5th June 2025: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has arrested two individuals for accepting a bribe of Rs 35,000 in a trap operation carried out in the Bhosari area. The accused include a Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) Assistant Engineer and a private individual who acted as a middleman.

The accused have been identified as Ram Prasad Narawade (34), an Assistant Engineer posted at the MSEDCL office in Bhosari, and Shyamlal Asokan (34), a private person who allegedly facilitated the bribe transaction.

According to the ACB, the complainant, a 39-year-old contractor who handles government electricity connection work, had approached the MSEDCL Bhosari office on 4th March, seeking approval for a home electricity connection. During the process, Assistant Engineer Narawade allegedly demanded Rs 35,000 to approve and execute the connection work.

The contractor later filed a complaint with the ACB on 2nd June, prompting officials to begin an inquiry. During the investigation, it was revealed that as part of a “settlement,” Narawade agreed to accept a reduced bribe amount of Rs 25,000. He directed the complainant to hand over the money to Shyamlal Asokan.

Following this, the ACB laid a trap and caught both accused red-handed on 4th June. A formal case has been registered at the MIDC Bhosari Police Station under relevant sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act of 1988.

Police Inspector Prasad Lonare of the ACB is currently overseeing the investigation.
