Pune ACB Traps Education Department Staff in Satara for Rs 25,000 Bribe
Pune / Satara, 29th October 2025: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), Pune unit, on Tuesday caught a senior assistant from the Secondary Education Department of the Zilla Parishad, Satara, red-handed while accepting a bribe of ₹25,000.
The accused, identified as Vaishali Shankar Mane (40), had allegedly demanded the bribe to process the approval order for a retired teacher’s selection grade proposal.
According to the ACB, the complainant, a 62-year-old retired teacher, had submitted his service proposal through his school to the Education Officer (Secondary), Satara. When he followed up on the status of his proposal, Mane allegedly demanded ₹25,000, claiming the money was needed to “get the work done” through her superior officer.
Following a complaint, the ACB team verified the demand on October 27, 2025. A trap was subsequently laid on October 28 at the office of the Education Officer (Secondary Education Department), Zilla Parishad, Satara. During the operation, Mane was caught red-handed while accepting the bribe amount from the complainant.
A case is being registered against the accused under relevant sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, at the Satara City Police Station.
The operation was carried out under the guidance of Superintendent of Police (ACB Pune Region) Shirish Sardeshpande, with support from Additional Superintendents of Police Ajit Patil and Arjun Bhosale. The trap was executed by a team led by Police Inspector Pravin Nimbalkar (ACB Pune) and Police Inspector Sunil Patil (ACB Satara).
