Pune Accident: 2 Dead, Several Injured After Container Truck Crashes Near Navale Bridge
Narhe, 19th September 2026: Two people died, and several others were injured after a speeding container truck allegedly suffered brake failure and crashed into a truck and other vehicles near Bhumkar Bridge on the Katraj-Dehu Road bypass in Pune in the early hours of Saturday.
According to the police, the accident occurred at around 12:30 am near Navale Bridge. The heavy container was travelling from Satara towards Mumbai when its brakes allegedly failed near Bhumkar Bridge, causing the driver to lose control.
The container reportedly rammed into a truck ahead and collided with or brushed against several other vehicles on the road. The impact caused extensive damage to the container and the truck.
Two people travelling in the container died at the spot, while several others sustained injuries. Their identities had not been established at the time of reporting. The injured were shifted to a nearby hospital, where they are undergoing treatment.
After receiving information about the accident, local residents, police personnel and ambulances reached the spot. Police and rescue teams were involved in removing the bodies from the damaged container.
The accident also caused traffic congestion on the Mumbai-Bengaluru Highway. Police were carrying out further investigation to determine the exact circumstances leading to the crash.
