Pune: Acid-like Substance Poured on Symbiosis College Student in Range Hills Hostel

Khadki, 26th March 2024: Pune Police have initiated an investigation into a disturbing incident where a sleeping youth was attacked with an acid-like chemical in his college hostel room in Range Hills, Khadki.

The 24-year-old student, who resides in the Boys Hostel of Symbiosis Institute in Range Hills, filed a complaint at the Khadki Police Station. According to his statement, an unidentified individual entered his hostel room on Saturday evening (23rd March) while he was asleep around 8:30 pm. The intruder proceeded to pour a substance resembling acid from a plastic mug onto his body.

During the attack, the student, who suffered injuries due to the chemical, managed to raise an alarm. He attempted to open the door only to discover it was locked from the outside.

After getting information, Assistant Commissioner of Police Aarti Bansode and Senior Police Inspector Girish Kumar Dighavkar rushed to the spot.

Assistant Police Inspector Ruikar has been assigned to investigate the case. Authorities have seized CCTV footage from the hostel, leading them to suspect that the perpetrator might be a fellow hostel resident acting with malicious intent.
