Pune City Police Book 142 Drivers for Drunk Driving During Holi Celebrations

Pune, 26th March 2024: The vibrant festivities of Holi and Dhulivandan took place in Pune on Monday (25th March) marked by spirited celebrations across the city. To ensure safety during the festivities, Pune City Police took proactive measures under the leadership of Commissioner Amitesh Kumar and other senior officials.

A directive was issued to enforce traffic regulations rigorously during the festival. Accordingly, Pune City Traffic Police, in coordination with local Police Stations, set up 27 special checkpoints at key locations throughout the city.

During these checks, police officials took action against traffic violators. A total of 142 drivers were booked for driving under the influence of alcohol, while 226 motorists received fines for violating the rule against triple-seat riding. Additionally, 933 individuals were penalized for various rule violations, including driving on the wrong side, using mobile phones while driving and using modified exhaust systems producing excessive noise.

Authorities have emphasized that such enforcement activities will continue in the future to uphold traffic discipline and ensure the safety of Pune’s residents and visitors during festive occasions.
