Pune: Acquittal Of Hindu Rashtra Sena’s Dhananjay Desai Along With His Accomplices In Mohsin Sheikh Murder Case

Pune, 27th January 2023: A special district court ordered the acquittal of 22 people, including Hindu Rashtra Sena’s Dhananjay Desai, in the murder case of Mohsin Sheikh. The accused have been acquitted due to a lack of evidence.
Mohsin Sheikh (24) was murdered on 2nd June 2014, in the Hadapsar area during riot like situation. Sheikh’s murder took place after controversial messages were circulated on social media about important personalities. Sheikh was a native of Solapur and was working in an IT company.
Sheikh was wearing a skull cap at that time. He was killed when a stone was hit on his head. Hindu Rashtra Sena’s Dhananjay Desai and his accomplices were arrested by Pune police on suspicion in this case.

Desai was granted bail by the Bombay High Court in this case. The special court ordered the acquittal of Desai and 21 accomplices due to a lack of strong evidence.
Late Mohsin’s brother Mubeen Shaikh told Punekar News over the phone that the family will appeal in the high court against the acquittal. “We are taking legal opinion,” he added.
Meanwhile, addressing a press conference at a friend’s office on Apte Road, Desai said, “I am the victim of the political riot. Along with me, 22 people were accused by the then-state government led by Congress and NCP. None of the witnesses identified any of us in the court. There was no evidence. The court has now done justice with us.”
When asked who killed Mohsin Shaikh, Desai added, “It is for the police to answer. Give me the investigation, and I will find out.”
To a question whether he will contest the next assembly election, Desai said that a decision in this regard will be taken later. “We want Narendra Modi to become the Prime Minister again. Maharashtra needs a Chief Minister like Yogi Adityanath,” he added.
