Pimpri, 24th May 2203: Before the onset of monsoon, potholes in the city are filled. Also, after the 15th of May, road digging is stopped in the city and roads are repaired. During the rainy season, due to road digging, the roads in the city are in bad condition and there is a risk of accidents.

The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has ordered that roads should not be dug in any way in the city from 15th May. Therefore, the Building Department of the Municipal Corporation has warned of action against those digging roads in violation of the Municipal Corporation’s orders.

The excavation was going on for the construction of public and private services in the city. For that, one has to pay the excavation fee and take permission from the Municipal Corporation. During the rainy season, digging has to be completely closed.

However, two years ago, the then Commissioner Rajesh Patil permitted the excavation of the Smart City during the rainy season. Since then, digging in the city takes place during the rainy season. In the name of necessary works, road digging is going on by municipal contractors and other public and private organizations during monsoons. Due to this, the roads are in bad condition and invite accidents.

Meanwhile, as per the order of the Municipal Commissioner, all the agencies have been ordered to stop road digging from 15th May to 15th October 2023.

Accordingly, the municipal authorities have claimed that road digging has stopped in the city since 15th May. The order said that if it is necessary to dig roads in exceptional circumstances, they should take the approval of the municipal corporation and submit the proposal to the commissioner with the prior approval of the city engineer.
