CBI Arrests Pune Additional Divisional Commissioner In Bribery Case, Seizes Rs 6 Crore Cash From His Residence

Pune, 14th June 2023: Additional Divisional Commissioner of Pune, Dr. Anil Ramod, who is currently in judicial custody for allegedly accepting a bribe of eight lakh rupees in connection with land acquisition on the highway, has filed a bail application through his lawyer. The application will come up for hearing on Friday, June 16.

Dr Ramod, IAS, was apprehended by the Anti-Corruption Branch of CBI on June 9 while accepting the bribe. During a search of his residence in Baner, the CBI team discovered documents and cash amounting to Rs 6 crore 64 lakh. The bribe was allegedly solicited by Dr. Ramod in exchange for facilitating payments to farmers for land acquisition on the highway.

Following the arrest, Special Judge A. S. Waghmare ordered Dr. Ramod to be remanded in judicial custody until June 27, and he was subsequently transferred to Yerwada Jail.

Today, Dr. Ramod’s lawyer, Adv. Sudhir Shah, submitted a bail application to the special court. The application is scheduled to be heard on Friday, June 16.

The case has attracted significant attention due to the involvement of a high-ranking government official and the alleged corruption surrounding land acquisition processes. The court proceedings on Friday will shed further light on the developments in this case.
