Camp, 14th June 2023: An individual pretending to be a bank employee deceived staff of a private company, causing a loss of one lakh rupees.

The 53-year-old victim, staff of a private company located on Dhole-Patil Road, registered a complaint at Lashkar police station.

As per the complaint, the company manager entrusted the employee with a cheque to withdraw three lakh rupees from IndusInd Bank in Camp area. When the employee collected the cash from the cashier, an individual approached him.

“Under the guise of a bank employee, the thief skillfully manipulated the situation. The bundle of notes had pencil marks and fake stains, creating an illusion of authenticity. Seemingly concerned, the imposter claimed that the cashier had requested the bundle of notes back. Mistaking the thief for a genuine bank employee, the victim unwittingly handed over the bundle containing one lakh rupees. Seizing the opportunity, the thief swiftly absconded with the stolen cash. It was only later that the victim realized the deceitful act.”
