Pune Administration Pushes for World-Class Preparations Ahead of Pune Grand Tour

Pune, 18th December 2025: With the Pune Grand Challenge Tour drawing national and international attention, District Collector Jitendra Dudi has instructed all concerned departments to ensure that every aspect of the event’s preparation is executed with high standards of quality, durability and strict adherence to timelines, while prioritising the safety and convenience of participating cyclists.

Chairing a high-level review meeting at the District Collector’s Office, Dudi underlined the global visibility the event is expected to generate and said it would play a key role in strengthening India’s image in international sports. He stressed the need for seamless coordination among departments to deliver error-free arrangements.

The meeting was attended by senior officials including Resident Deputy Collector Jyoti Kadam, PWD Superintending Engineer Bharatkumar Baviskar, District Planning Officer Kiran Indalkar, Pune City Traffic DCP Himmat Jadhav, Pimpri-Chinchwad Traffic DCP Vivek Patil, Pune Rural Police DySP Dilip Shinde, and Pune Grand Challenge Tour Technical Director Pinaki Baisak, along with representatives from multiple civic and enforcement agencies.

The Collector directed that all road-related works along the race route be completed to international-quality standards. This includes timely lane markings, installation of clear directional signage on both sides of the roads, and overall surface durability. He also instructed authorities to carry out route beautification and remove encroachments wherever required, with police support.

To maximise visibility and public engagement, Dudi asked the Pune Municipal Corporation, Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation, PMPML, metro stations and bus depots to allocate prominent spaces for promotional material and event branding.

On safety arrangements, the Collector directed the Pune City Police, Pimpri-Chinchwad Police Commissionerate and Pune Rural Police to jointly prepare a detailed traffic regulation, crowd control and security deployment plan. He further instructed rural police officials to physically inspect cycling routes by bicycle to assess ground-level safety conditions.

Police departments were also asked to ensure adequate deployment of trained personnel, vehicles, barricades, and to conduct full-scale rehearsals well ahead of the event to avoid last-minute lapses.

During the meeting, officials from various departments presented status reports on ongoing works related to infrastructure, security, logistics and coordination for the Pune Grand Challenge Tour.
