Pimpri-Chinchwad, 27th February 2024: In a bid to provide affordable healthcare to the public, generic medicine shops are set to be established in five municipal hospitals across Pimpri-Chinchwad. The designated hospitals include YCM, Navin Thergaon, Akurdi, Navin Jijamata, and Navin Bhosari, offering residents access to cost-effective medications within the hospital premises.

Pimpri-Chinchwad city boasts 32 municipal clinics and eight major hospitals, including the 750-bed Yashwantrao Chavan Memorial (YCM) Hospital at Sant Tukaramnagar. Drawing patients from Pune district, municipal hospitals often face challenges in maintaining a consistent supply of required medications. As a result, patients are compelled to purchase medicines from private pharmacies, incurring additional expenses. To address this issue, generic medicine shops will be introduced in five strategic locations within the corporation’s hospitals.

NACOF India Limited has partnered with the initiative, providing rental space to establish generic drug stores modeled after Amrit Stores in the Municipal Hospital premises. The company has secured five plots ranging from 150 to 186 square feet, with a monthly rent of Rs. 32,242 each. The rental agreement spans ten years, further reinforcing the commitment to making affordable medicines readily available to the public.
