Pune: AFMC’s Initiative to Educate on Health Technology Assessment Aims to Transform Public Policy

Pune, 5th November 2024: The Health Technology Resource Centre at the Department of Community Medicine, Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC), Pune, conducted a workshop on Health Technology Assessment (HTA) on November 5, 2024, aimed at sensitizing policymakers and researchers. The focus of the workshop was to enhance participants’ capacity to utilize economic evaluation and systematic review methodologies for crafting effective and efficient public health policies.

The delegates included policymakers, program managers, national public health experts, clinicians, researchers, academicians, faculty, and budding public health specialists from AFMC, Command Hospital (Southern Command), AICTS, and MH Kirkee, Pune.

The participants gained valuable insights into Health Technology Assessment and its critical role in both global and national healthcare systems. Lt. Gen. Sandeep Thareja, Director and Commandant of AFMC, served as the chief patron for the event. Health officials from the Maharashtra State Government were also in attendance.
