Pune: After Heavy Criticism, Minister Tanaji Sawant Apologizes To Maratha Community

Pune, 26th September 2022: Minister in Maharashtra State Government Tanaji Sawant made a statement about the Maratha Community which created a lot of controversies. 

Sawant was criticized for his statements. Hence, Sawant has taken a moderate stance and apologised for his insensitive comments. 

Sawant said, “If my statement has offended the Maratha community then I am apologising to the Maratha community. My role is to ensure that the Maratha community gets the reservation.”  

Sawant also said that if the Maratha community does not get reservations, he will resign from his ministerial post.

Shiv Sena’s Shinde faction leader and state public minister Tanaji Sawant praised the work of the then Chief Minister and the present Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis regarding the Maratha reservation. 

In the state from 2014 to 2019, for the Maratha reservation, people made heavy accusations against Devendra Fadnavis, took out Maratha revolution marches, and held protests. 

“He was called Brahmin, but the same Brahmin filled the bag of Marathas in 2017-18,” said Sawant.
