Pune airport: 168 Indians arrive from Sharjah, 150 Yemen passengers depart

Pune, June 20, 2020: As many as 150 passengers of Yemen successfully departed from Pune Airport to Aden, a port city of Yemen, today. Similarly, an Air Arabia flight arrived carrying 168 passengers stranded at Sharjah due to the Coronavirus pandemic. Flight number IY 855 of Yemenia Airways arrived at 4 pm from Aden and departed at 5 pm from Pune Airport.

As per the information shared by Deputy Commissioner of Custom Motilal Shete, “Pune Customs successfully facilitated rescue flight for 150 Yemen nationals stranded in India due to COVID-19 by Yemenia Airline. Departing Yemen nationals were from Pune and Mumbai.”

All the passengers were scanned for temperature using thermal scanners. No departing passenger was found with any signs and symptoms of COVID-19. As many as 168 Indian passengers stranded at Sharjah arrived on Saturday by special chartered flight under Vande Bharat mission. Flight number G9653 Air Arabia arrived at 4.10 pm at Pune Airport and departed around 7 pm without any passengers.

Airport Authority of India (AAI), Customs, Immigration and Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) coordinated to facilitate the movement. All the agencies including customs followed COVID-19 SOPs including use of Personal Protection Equipment (PPE), maintaining social distancing, use of sanitizers, etc.

On June 14, as many as 188 passengers arrived from Dubai by special flight FlyDubai. Similarly, passengers for Afghanistan had departed from Pune Airport in May.
