Pune Airport Closure Postponed, Earlier It Was Planned To Be Closed From April 26 To May 9

Pune, 15th April 2021: The Indian Air Force (IAF) has postponed the total closure of the Pune airport for the runway resurfacing work. IAF on Wednesday stated that closure has been postponed and new dates will be released soon.
Due to the runway resurfacing works, earlier it was planned that Pune Airport will have no flight operations for 14 days from 26th April 2021 till 9 May 2021. At present, flights from Pune are operational only during the day from 8 am to 8 pm. The resurfacing work continues at night between 8 pm and 8 am.

However, the decision to postpone the closure of Pune airport is a big relief to the passengers, who had already booked their tickets during this period without knowing about the closure. Due to the surge in covid-19 cases in Pune, people are returning to their native places, and demand for flights has also increased. Therefore, the airport officials were constantly in talks with IAF requesting to postpone the total runway closure.

An airport official said that flight movements are likely to increase with the closure having postponed.
